Web Hosts

What should you look for in a Web host?  Some features which are very important include speed, reliability, disk space, data transfer allowed per month, price, server hardware, internet network connectivity (how is the web host connected to the internet?), and customer service.

Depending on your needs, you might consider "virtual hosting" as opposed to having the web host handle a dedicated server for your web site.  Once your site has the traffic and can handle the costs, a dedicated server might be a good choice.

Web Host Rating Reviews
Verio.com 8.5 One of the biggest names in the web hosting industry.  Perhaps the best quality in terms of infrastructure and hardware, but also slightly more expensive.
GSP.com 8.5 One of the best-rated web host providers from people who know -- webmasters.
FutureQuest 8.5 Very good-looking site.  Another highly-rated site from webmasters.
Pair.com 8.4 Another webmaster pick.
Jumpline.com 8.2 References include some of the bigger internet names, including Yahoo! & Network Solutions.
DreamHost 8.2 Another top-notch option
CommuniTech.net 8.0 A growing web host provider that has been popular with webmasters -- but is currently getting only good to mixed reviews.
Burlee.com 8.0 A new, fast-growing web host provider.  Customer service is very good; pricing is iffy -- with additional charges for many options.
Webhosting.com 7.5 A solid pick, with many of the features you would want from a web host -- including good value.
Web2010.com 7.0 Another good pick.
CIHost.com 7.0 A good pick in terms of quality, price, and value.
Interland.com 7.0 A solid pick in terms of value and price.
